Thanksgiving at Alpenland St. Johann

Thanksgiving is traditionally celebrated on the last Thursday of November in the United States and Canada. This “Thanksgiving” deviates from the Austrian Thanksgiving Festival in that Thanksgiving does not commemorate the rich harvest of the past year, but commemorates the time of the pilgrims. The festival originated in the fall of 1621 and the festival that the Pilgrim Fathers celebrated in Plymouth Rock with the Wampanoag Indians. The festival ensured the pilgrim fathers the survival of the upcoming winter with the indigenous people who were well-tuned through the common festival.

We celebrate hearty music with the Ensemble Lyeson, dinner with traditional turkey and jazz, mixed with virtuoso music. Immerse yourself with us in the world of colonization of the USA, jazzy sounds and enjoyable turkey with everything that goes with it!
